The Completion of Grangewood

Our Grangewood project has seen the construction of a 25-plot new build residential development, consisting of 25 new houses and a block of 4 new apartments. Each plot has turfed gardens at the rear and additionally have their own front planted areas, and the homes span both social and private housing.

This £5 million project was situated in the village of Kelvedon, Essex. A village located between two busy town centres of Chelmsford and Colchester.

The plans had been in place to demolish the pre-existing Grangewood Centre care home for the sum of a couple of years, with the intention to replace the centre with new, contemporary homes and apartments which formed 25 dwellings. So when Davis Construction secured the project, we were eager to get going!

Broken into two sections of works, the first section covered 15 of the dwellings, including an apartment block and entrance road. The second section was dedicated to the remaining 10 dwellings. Across both sections the general area has been landscaped and the houses on the development fall under one of three types.

Type 1 houses - two bedrooms with a study and living/dining area.
Type 2 houses - four bedrooms with an en suite and large living/dining area.
Type 3 houses - five bedrooms with two en suites, walk-in wardrobe, two living areas, large kitchen, dining room and study.

The houses promote clean and modern living. Internally we have delivered the fit out on each of the properties with all new kitchen appliances, carpeted flooring throughout the home and vinyl in the kitchens and bathrooms, and tidy, smart, simplistic décor.

Externally we have developed paved roads and private car parks all throughout the development, and many of these houses also have off-street parking and impressive detached garages. The gardens are spacious and private and overall the development has a family feel to it now that it is complete and new homeowners are moving in ready for Christmas 2019.

Throughout the project, we made a conscious effort to remain driven by the social value that the development brings to the high street and have remained considerate of the neighbouring residents whilst the build was underway. It has been a lengthy project, and we always aspire to work in a way that enhances the local community during our time on site and we hope we have delivered on this principle.

On completion, Tom Davis said “The Grangewood development has been a significant project for Davis Construction, and we wish all the best to the new homeowners moving into the new houses and apartments ready in time for Christmas and the New Year.”
