Chase High School - Education

Westcliff-On-Sea 52 Weeks

Chase High School was a £4 million, yearlong building project which involved the construction of a new three-storey classroom block, complete with all services and external works. The project also included refurbishment works to the existing building.

Project In detail.

Alongside external redevelopment of the playground, netball courts, and car park, the new building brought a new lease of life to the 1,017 students at the school. Construction of the new year block means that the school’s student capacity will be expanded to 1,330 pupils by September 2024.

For Andrew James, Head Teacher of Chase High School, the development was a great opportunity to provide an updated suite of rooms for their humanities subjects, such as Geography, History, RE and Sociology.

During the 6-week summer holiday period of 2019, we also successfully completed internal refurbishment works to the existing building. This included the development of a new reception area with associated offices, and the redevelopment of an existing classroom and offices into a large science room with specialist furniture and equipment.

These works also comprised of the transformation of an existing classroom into an IT teaching facility and the relocation of the secure exam storage facility.
